Overheard
Scene: Jonathan comes in from playing outside, crying. He has scraped his knee. Mom takes him to the bathroom to clean and bandage him.
Mommy: I have spider-man band-aids and plain ones. Which one do you want?
Jonathan: The plain one.
Mommy opens plain band-aid in front of Jonathan.
Jonathan: Where is the plane? I can’t see it.
Scene: Driving home from somewhere. Kids are thirsty.
Cameron: Mom, I am starving!
Mom: Oh, you’re hungry?
Cameron: No…what’s that word for really thirsty?
Mom: You’re parched?
Cameron: Yeah…I am PARCHED!
Andrew: Me too! I am starched!

DANG! I promised to leave the giraffe band-aid with him, didn’t I?{sigh}You should get Cathie on this. She finds awesome band-aids. She got us a box that are the shape of animals (Aisling’s currently wearing a starfish that is shaped like a star.) . They’re very popular.

It wasn’t so much the lack of a plane band-aid that was upsetting, but that Mom said that she had one….I put these two together because I thought it was a fun “wordplay” edition of overheard…plane/plain; starving + parched = starched. š

one day i told josiah that he could go barefoot outside to play. he looked at me with that thinking expression on his face and said, “but mom, i’m josiah foot. i’m not bear foot.” it was cute. i got a chuckle out of that.
